What is a domain name?
A domain name is a part of the Uniform Resource Locator (URL). A URL is used to uniquely identify a website on the internet.
An example of a URL is http://www.ipmarker.com
In this URL the Top Level Domain is '.com' , the Second-Level Domain is 'ipmarker.com'
A domain name may point to a single IP Address or multiple IP Addresses. A single IP Address may also host multiple domains.
Internet domains are easier to remember than the actual IP Address of the server.
Where can I get domain name ?
A domain can be registered from service providers like Yahoo , GoDaddy, Hostgator etc.
Typically these providers also host server space and other utilites to build your own website and associate your domain name with the server in their DNS records.
